DUTIES
Perform engineering duties in planning and designing electrical systems for water and wastewater treatment plants. Conduct electrical load analysis and design of the electrical distribution system for water, wastewater treatment plants, sewer lift stations, high service pump stations, raw water pump stations, ozone facilities, and membrane facilities. Conduct field surveys of exiting installations or construction sites. Evaluate and size backup generators using software calculation. Design the generator to connect with the main electrical system along with open or close transition. Prepare of drawings and specifications for the electrical system, which will include site plans, duct bank section for cable and conduits. Size the wire required for the equipment along with voltage drop calculations. Calculate short circuit availability for sizing the electrical equipment. Produce riser wiring drawings to show wire and conduit from point to point. Interface the electrical design with instrumentation and control system drawings. Design panel board and switch gear layout for power distribution in compliance with National Electrical Code requirements. Calculate motor starting load and size the starter, breaker, overloads, wire and conduit for the project, using software to meet national electrical code. Size the variable frequency drives to vary the speed of the motor to meet process needs. Provide lightning protection and grounding details for the infrastructure associated. Calculate the foot candles and design the lighting and controls for the process areas, roadway and operations buildings. Provide calculations to meet ISA lighting standards and meet international building codes for energy efficiency. Preparation of preliminary engineering reports along with cost estimate and 30% design drawings based on field conditions and project requirements. Participate in construction phase review of shop drawings, produce request for clarification documents, provide change orders clarifications, attend construction meetings, participate in inspection and provide punch list to document deficiencies.
